Episode 20: Delphine LaLaurie
Delphine was born on March 9, 1787 to a well known, wealthy family in New Orleans. When her parents passed away, Delphine received a very large inheritance which included a large sum of money, 2 plantations, farm animals and equipment, and over 100 slaves.
Over the years, many of Delphines slaves were said to be mistreated and some even passed away while under her control. After a slave set Delphines house on fire in a murder/suicide attempt, authorities discovered Delphine had been torturing, mutilating, and murdering her slaves.
